About Laura
Laura brings over 15 years of experience in public sector transformation, with a career spanning the NHS and local government. She began her journey in 2008 at Walsall Manor Hospital, where she worked in the IT Programme Office supporting system implementation and change initiatives. This early experience laid the foundation for her expertise in project management and PMO leadership.

In 2012, Laura transitioned to local government, spending a significant portion of her career at City of Wolverhampton Council. Her roles evolved over time, culminating in her position as Head of Governance. Laura has a proven track record of delivering complex programmes and driving service improvement. She established robust governance frameworks to support major initiatives and developed an online gateway system to manage the Council’s entire portfolio of projects and programmes.

Laura also led the creation of an in-house improvement team, working across Leisure, HR, and Governance to deliver cost savings and restructure services for greater efficiency and impact.

As Head of Governance, she oversaw a broad portfolio including:
-
Leader and Cabinet Office
-
Councillor Support
-
Democratic and Scrutiny Services
-
Electoral Services
-
Mayoralty
-
School Appeals

Under her leadership, Wolverhampton adopted a modernised approach to governance. She successfully managed all local elections from 2021 onward, including the 2024 general election, and played a key role in civic engagement through her stewardship of the Mayor’s Charity—an initiative close to her heart that raised vital funds for local causes.

Laura continues her commitment to community service as Secretary of a village-based charity supporting young people in crisis or need.
