About Piali
With a focus on translating strategy and vision into action, Piali has established herself as a leader in public service reform.
Piali has worked in local, regional and national government, always with a focus on supporting place leaders to shape their own organisations and collaborate with partners to deliver on the needs of residents. In addition to senior roles at Birmingham City Council, Surrey County Council, London Borough of Newham and West Midlands Combined Authority, she has developed a good understanding of the needs and contexts of different councils through her work with the Local Government Association, London Councils and Solace. During the Covid-19 pandemic, she was part of a small team that established better links between NHS Test and Trace and local government to enable local innovation and insight to shape national policy and practice.
Piali has also directly managed and led change within a variety of local authority functions, including strategy, research, communications, democratic services, equalities and resident engagement. Having worked in and with a number of councils undergoing intervention, she has particular expertise in supporting local authorities seeking to secure the right governance, structures and ways of working to achieve sustained improvement.
